Dr. Prem  Nath Dua, son of Lala Sant Ram, mehndiwala from Mohalla Haji Gulab, Bhera, visited his ancestors’ lands in Dewanpur, seven  kilometers east of Bhera, district Sargodha on 18 March 2018 ( I accompanied him).

As Dr Dua walked through the village, the whispers of the past echoed. The elderly villagers, with eyes aglow, greeted him with tears of joy,  with memories of his father’s kindness. The air was thick with emotion as they recounted tales of Lala Sant Ram’s generosity and compassion towards his tenants.

Dr. Dua’s eyes sparkled with pride as he absorbed the love that surrounded him. The visit was a homecoming, a reunion with the legacy of his family’s past. Though the years had taken him far from his ancestral home to a life of quiet retirement in Washington,  D.C., USA.

The few precious pictures from that day remind us of the power of nostalgia, a bridge that connects us to our past, our people, and our very sense of identity. Dr. Prem Nath Dua’s story is a treasure of emotions, a testament to our ancestors’ indelible mark on our lives, and the unbreakable bonds that tie us to our roots.
