Arts and Crafts of Bhera . Beautifully hand – carved doors of Bhera, district Sargodha

Each dilapidated haveli, marhi, house, shop … in Bhera has a story of its own. The front doors of some of the buildings are still intact. Behind them, may be a heap of rubble or ruins. These superbly carved fascinating doors are reminiscent of the bygone days. Though the color of centuries – old wood has faded away in the mists of time, but it has not been affected by the termites and incests. It indicates the quality of wood used by the master craftsmen.

Every mohalla inside the Circular Road has still some captivating doors, which must be conserved by the concerned departments along with other amazing and alluring woodwork. Not within the means of the locals to do so. These exquisitely carved doors can be a big attraction for the tourists visiting Bhera. Also for the future generations to know, how Bhera looked like in the past. After the Partition in 1947, instead of preserving ; many buildings in Bhera have been demolished, and their material old.

Immediate action is required, before the woodwork of Bhera completely vanishes. A few pictures of doors inside various mohallas are shared.
