Bhera Railway Heritage Museum, by Enaya Mumtaz
Bhera Railway Station, built circa 1881, is a testament to the town’s glorious history. The trains stopped operating between Bhera – Malakwal in 2005 (distance of 28 km).
The weighing scale, once a proud fixture, has vanished, leaving behind memories in a picture. The abandoned station now bears a deserted look – slowly fading away. Despite repeated reminders, the proposal to convert the station into a Railway Heritage Museum, like Golara Sharif and Akora Khurd, remains unfulfilled.
It’s time for the people of Bhera to take action and preserve their heritage in some form. Bhera’s legacy must be safeguarded for future generations. Discover more about Bhera Railway Station’s fascinating history on the website, bhera.org (link below).
