Mohalla Sheikhanwala, Bhera, District Sargodha

Mohalla Sheikhanwala is one the largest mohallas of Bhera, like Sahniawala,Khawajgan, Parachgan and Sehtianwala. Sheikhanwala is located in the north, inside the Walled City Bhera with eight gates (the general alignment of the wall was the present-day Circular Road).

In the north of the mohalla is Circular Road, In the west mohallas Dhebaywala and Shah Naseeb Daryae, in the southeast Chopra Mandi , in the south mohallas Pakhiwaranwala and Ansarianwala (old name Ghosaianwala), and Sheikhanwala bazaar, in the east mohallas Kapooranwala and Sehtianwala.

Mohalla Sheikhanwala can be approached from many directions, main entrance is from Circular Road. The significant features of the mohalla are the Sheikhanwali Masjid (repaired and renovated many times), an old temple, Chirri Chog Primary School (1876), a banyan tree, Pelee Khothi (the largest house on the side of Circular Road, still having fields, it belonged to Malak Tilak Raj, one of the richest men of Bhera, a great philanthropist), Jamil Manzil, Session Judge Sheikh Muhammad Akba’s house (Wadda Akbar), Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed’s house, Sheikh Muhammad Aslam’s house, Aftab Manzil: a few old houses of Sheikhs’ family have either crumbled down or have been demolished. Some are in pretty bad condition.

A brief note along with pictures has been written about Sheikhanwali Masjid, Chirri Chog Primary School ( 1876 ), the old banyan tree, and Pelee Khothi ( if interested to read can be shared ). A few pictures of Mohalla Sheikhanwala, taken by me over time, are shared in parts. It may be of interest to some.
