Bhera – Down Memory Lane. A temple, a mosque, and crumbling buildings witness Bhera’s history and tell stories of the past. In the background, lush green fields and beyond scared River Jhelum ( Vetasta in Sanskrit and Hydespes in Greek ), and the majestic Salt Range. Enaya Mumtaz

DOWN MEMORY LANE – 100 YEARS AGO. The old Hindu Jati Janjghar – Bhera, District Sargodha. The old Hindu Jati Janjghar in Bhera stands as a reminder of its past glory. Located in Mohalla Sheesh Mahal, this building has witnessed the ebbs and flows of time. After the Partition, it was occupied by the city police and later served as the Government Primary Girls School from mohalla Imliwal. The foundation stone of the Janjghar, inscribed in Hindi, reveals the story of its creation. It was built with the noble intention of serving the Hindu community. The inscription reads, “This Hindu Jati Janjghar has been built by Sain Das, son of Lala Narayan Das Kapoor, for the welfare of the Hindu Community on 14 Phagan 1981 (Bikrami Samvat), February 24, 1925, he laid the foundation stone with his blessed hands.”Enaya Mumtaz

Bhera’s Vanishing Heritage: A Call to Action. Sadly, a beautiful three-story building with a basement in Bhera’s mohalla Khawjgan has been demolished. The new construction lacks the elegance of the original. This building was a testament to Bhera’s unique architecture, which must be preserved. If old buildings continue to be razed, Bhera’s rich history will soon only exist in photographs. Let’s unite to protect our cultural heritage and preserve Bhera’s historic landmarks for future generations. Who will come forward in Bhera? Enaya Mumtaz.

Bhera’s Architectural Heritage: A Loss

A stunning multi-storey building in Mohalla Pirachgan, Bhera, has been demolished and its materials sold. It’s painful to see such architectural gems, which present Bhera’s rich history and craftsmanship, disappear. Preservation is important to protect our cultural heritage.
