The Art of Fresco Painting in Bhera has Vanished

Before Independence, the walls of many houses, mosques, and temples in Bhera were adorned with beautiful fresco paintings. Today, this remarkable artistic tradition has vanished. Faint remnants of these paintings still survive on a few old buildings, but they remain unnoticed by many.

The remaining traces of this forgotten heritage deserve to be documented and preserved before they disappear forever.

Note: A fresco is a mural painting technique in which water-based pigments are applied directly onto freshly laid, wet lime plaster. As the plaster dries, the pigments chemically bond with the plaster, making the artwork a permanent part of the wall. (Reference: Wikipedia)
