SPECIALITIES OF BHERA, DISTRICT SARGODHA, PAKISTAN – MEHNDI

Mehndi. Mehndi is made from the powdered leaves of a shrub plant, Lawsonia. It is used for hair colour and as a traditional form of decoration by women in countries like Pakistan and India. It is generally used on special occasions, particularly weddings and religious festivals. Applied as mud and washed out after a few hours, its effects last for a few weeks. Mehndi or Henna decorating is an art. Mehndi’s business in Bhera has deteriorated over some time due to a lack of demand, use of chemicals, and production in other parts of the country.
